38sqm Triple-Fold Block P1.9 Creative Reception Display in Shenzhen

A digital media company opening a new Shenzhen headquarters needed a reception screen that looked like a bespoke installation — not a flat panel bolted to a wall. Curved and flexible LED were ruled out on space and budget. DOIT VISION delivered a triple-fold Block P1.953 layout — back wall, ceiling canopy, and front lip — using 98 standard cabinets, Block back-mount brackets with zero welded steel, and a single NovaStar VX1000 Pro driving 10.1 million pixels. Production took three weeks. Installation took one. The client's in-house content team powered it on, and the reaction was immediate: standard cabinets, creative result.

01 — O Resumo

A Reception Screen That Had to Look Custom

When your business is digital media, the lobby screen is your first portfolio piece. A standard 16:9 wall mount was never going to pass.

A newly founded digital media company in Shenzhen was fitting out its headquarters reception. The brief was explicit: visitors should walk in and immediately understand this is a company that thinks in screens — not one that bought a commodity panel and called it done.

The lobby ceiling height is roughly 3 meters. The usable wall width is 5.5 meters. The design team wanted an immersive wrap — content that continues from the back wall over the ceiling and down into a front lip — creating a digital canopy over the reception desk without consuming floor space the way a curved screen would.

Two constraints landed early. Curved and flexible LED were rejected: the lobby depth could not accommodate a concave footprint, and the curved cabinet premium did not fit the project budget. The client asked a direct question: Can we get a creative shape from standard indoor cabinets?

02 — Design Decision

Why Triple-Fold Instead of Curved

Curved LED solves immersion with radius. Triple-fold solves it with geometry — and keeps every cabinet off the shelf.

  • Espaço (Space)A concave curved screen needs depth — typically 1–2 meters of floor projection for a 5.5m-wide arc. This reception zone is a corridor-width entry. A fold wraps the ceiling instead of eating floor area.
  • CustoFlexible modules and custom curved frames carry a 30–50% premium over standard fixed cabinets at the same pitch. Block P1.953 is a catalog SKU — 1000×500 and 500×250 mm — with no custom PCB or mold tooling.
  • ManutençãoEvery cabinet in this project is front-serviceable Block with pre-installed A5s receiving cards. A curved module failure often means custom spare inventory. Here, any cabinet swaps from standard stock.
  • TimelineCurved projects frequently add 2–4 weeks for frame design and radius validation. This triple-fold used Block's dedicated back-mount bracket system — no welded sub-frame, no structural engineer sign-off.
Resultado do cliente

After first power-on, the client's project lead described the result as achieving "irregular-screen impact from regular-screen economics." That is the exact positioning this layout targets — creative reception on a Block budget, delivered in four weeks.

03 — Engenharia

Three Planes, 98 Cabinets, Zero Welding

Same width on every face. Two 90° joints. One product line. No corner cabinets.

The display splits into three rectangular planes sharing a common width of metros 5.5:

/* TRIPLE-FOLD LAYOUT — SHENZHEN RECEPTION */
Plane A — Back Wall: 5.5m × 3.0m = 16.5 sqm (42 cabs)
Plane B — Ceiling Canopy: 5.5m × 3.0m = 16.5 sqm (42 cabs)
Plane C — Front Lip: 5.5m × 1.0m = 5.5 sqm (14 cabs)
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── ──
Total: 38.5 sqm 98 cabs
Cabinet mix: 70×1000×500mm + 28×500×250mm
Width split per row: 5×1000mm + 1×500mm = 5500mm

Structure uses Block series dedicated back-mount brackets — wall brackets for Plane A, ceiling hangers for Plane B, and drop brackets for Plane C. No site welding. No custom steel frame. The install team anchors brackets to the finished substrate, hangs cabinets, and connects the hub network.

Corner treatment is a straight 90° cabinet join — no dedicated corner modules. Measured physical gap at each joint: approximately 0.5 mm. At P1.953 and a typical 3–8 meter viewing distance in a reception lobby, this gap reads as a shadow line, not a broken pixel — provided content avoids high-contrast 1-pixel lines exactly on the fold.

04 — Arquitetura de Sistemas

VX1000 Pro Driving 10.1 Million Pixels

At P1.953 across 38.5 square meters, the canvas is approximately 10.1 milhões de pixels — roughly 1.2× a 4K frame. A single NovaStar VX1000 Pro drives the wall at about 77% of rated capacity with 16 active Ethernet ports. That headroom matters: brightness changes, content swaps, and future zone tweaks stay inside one box instead of forcing a second controller and a resync risk.

Every Block cabinet ships with a NovaStar A5s receiving card factory-installed on the cable-less hub board. On site, the crew hangs cabinets, plugs Ethernet from the VX1000 Pro into the cabinet network, and maps three display zones in NovaLCT — no separate MRV mounting, no on-site receiver programming marathon.

/* PIXEL & PORT BUDGET — TRIPLE-FOLD */
Area: 38.5 m² @ 1.953 mm
Total pixels: ≈ 10.1 million
Processor: 1 × NovaStar VX1000 Pro
Active ports: 16 Ethernet
Receivers: 98 × A5s (built into Block hub)
Load: ~77% of VX1000 Pro capacity
Integrator Takeaway

If your reception fold stays near 40 m² at ~P2, budget one VX1000 Pro class controller and confirm A5s (or equivalent) are pre-installed. The labor saving is not the card cost — it is the hours you do not spend mounting and addressing receivers on a ladder.

05 — Content & Corners

Client Content, Honest 0.5 mm Joints

We did not pixel-offset the corners. The client's content team designed around them — and it worked.

Two 90° joins read as approximately 0.5 mm physical gaps. At P1.953 and a typical 3–8 meter lobby viewing distance, that line is a shadow, not a broken pixel — if content avoids 1-pixel high-contrast rules exactly on the fold.

Unlike the New Jersey P0.9 COB showroom — where pixel-offset mapping hides a 90° seam at close range — this Block fold keeps geometry honest. The client's in-house team mapped three zones in NovaLCT and designed gradients across the fold lines:

  • Parede de trás2816 × 1536 px canvas — primary brand / showreel zone
  • Ceiling canopy2816 × 1536 px — continuous sky / environment layer
  • Lábio frontal2816 × 512 px — lower accent; keep critical type off the fold coordinates
What We Told the Content Team

Treat fold coordinates as soft seams. Prefer soft gradients and full-bleed motion across Plane A→B→C. Reserve logos and body type for the center of each plane. That brief replaced weeks of custom corner-module engineering.

Perguntas do comprador

Perguntas frequentes

Can standard LED cabinets create a creative shape without curved panels?
Yes. This Shenzhen project used 98 Block P1.953 cabinets in a triple-fold layout — back wall, ceiling canopy, and front lip — with two 90° right-angle joins. No flexible modules or corner cabinets. Total area: 38.5 square meters at 5.5 meters common width.
What processor do I need for a 38sqm P1.9 triple-fold LED wall?
38.5 square meters at 1.953 mm pitch generates approximately 10.1 million pixels. One NovaStar VX1000 Pro handles this at roughly 77% capacity with 16 active Ethernet ports. Each Block cabinet ships with a pre-installed A5s receiving card.
What gap should I expect at 90° corners without corner cabinets?
Approximately 0.5 mm physical gap at each 90° joint is typical for right-angle Block assembly. At P1.953 and 3–8 meter viewing distances, content design matters more than pixel offset — use gradients across fold lines, avoid 1-pixel rules on corners.
How many cabinets for a 5.5m × 3m Block P1.9 face?
42 Block cabinets per 5.5m × 3.0m face: 30×1000×500 mm plus 12×500×250 mm. This project totals 98 cabinets across back, canopy, and lip planes.
Block vs curved LED for a creative company lobby?
Curved LED needs floor depth and costs 30–50% more. Block triple-fold achieved immersive reception effect with catalog SKUs, back-mount brackets, and 4-week delivery — suitable when viewing distance is 3 meters or more.
Does Block require external receiver cards?
No. Block cabinets ship with NovaStar A5s receiving cards factory-installed on the hub board. Connect VX1000 Pro Ethernet outputs directly to the cabinet network — no on-site MRV mounting.
Who creates content for a triple-fold LED display?
Integrators supply hardware and NovaLCT mapping. Content can be client or agency produced. Recommended zones: 2816×1536 px for back and canopy, 2816×512 px for lip. Avoid critical text on fold coordinates.
What is the lead time for a 38sqm Block creative reception project?
Standard Block P1.953 cabinets require no custom tooling. This project completed in 4 weeks: 3 weeks production and burn-in, 1 week installation. Assumes brackets and substrate are ready on site.
